Ha Melanie, Hier is het niet zo goed, ik ben in 2009 flink gevallen met de fiets over de kop, kweet niet of ik dat al heb verteld, hersenkneuzing, scheurtje jukbeen en erg lang herstel nodig, toch weer gaan werken en doorgemodderd, mijn man heeft er ook last van en door drukte op zijn werk kreeg hij weer migraineaanvallen met uitvalsverschijnselen linkerkant lijf. Hij heeft nu gelukkig een leuke nieuwe baan in (.) en gaat op de fiets naar het werk. Die val met de fiets heeft bij mij het een en ander losgerammeld en op een gegeven moment, eind 2010 storte ik in. Heel mijn shitverleden kwam eruit. Ben sexueel misbruikt door mijn stiefvader vroeger, mijn moeder heeft me nooit opgevoed zoals het hoort en zo kwam ik bij psycholoog terecht en zit nu op een telefootnje te wachten, ga me laten opnemen in een C.P.H. in Wijchen. Dat is een Centrum voor Psychisch Herstel, door de week daar en in het weekeinde thuis. Heb even die afstand van thuis met de kinderen etc nodig om alles goed te kunnen verwerken en bij mezelf te komen. Heb geen zelfvertrouwen, geen eigenwaarde, weinig assertief wat me allemaal tegenzit in heel het leven. >>knip<<

Daar zat ik dan, begin dit jaar, te kijken naar dit mailtje. 'Even' die leuke oudklasgenoot van het Peelland College een nieuwjaarswens gestuurd en dan dit als reply...wauw, heftig..!!!
Dit was het begin van een korte en hevige mailwisseling, immers, Marije werd opgenomen en zou daar geen computer tot haar beschikking hebben. Na meer dan 25 jaar was ze er klaar mee, en kwam alles er uit.

Al vrij snel vroeg ik haar: kun je niet af en toe een foto maken en me die sms-en? Gewoon met je telefoon, hoeven geen hoogstandjes te zijn, maar gewoon een beeld wat je tegenkomt tijdens je verblijf daar en wat voor jou bijzonder is. Het idee was; we sturen elkaar elke paar dagen een foto om zo met elkaar in contact te blijven en maken hier uiteindelijk een boekje van.

Helaas bleek Marije een oude mobiel te hebben die mijn bestanden niet ondersteunde. Maar niet getreurd, Marije werd zó enthousiast dat ze toch stevig door fotografeerde en me het resultaat steeds weer toestuurde. Nu, een half jaar later, hebben we puur van haar werk en teksten een boekje gemaakt over haar periode in Wijchen.
Oh, wat ben ik trots.
Kippevel als ik zie wat fotografie voor en met mensen kan doen.

Ze heeft naast fotografie ook haar pianospel weer opgepakt, is weer gaan tekenen/schilderen, kortom, ze kan haar creatieve ei weer kwijt! (en zo kende ik haar) Na haar opname heeft ze meer tekst en uitleg gegeven over haar periode intern, en deze is ook verwerkt in het boek.

Vanaf nu zal Marije ook met u haar verhaal delen in dit bijzondere boek, een samenwerking tussen Artstudio23 en Marije Fotografie

Trash The Dress 2012

Trash The Dress photography is a wellknown phenomenon in the US since the late 90's. "Trash the dress" is the art of destruction or deconstruction of a brides wedding dress to create a new artwork that the bride would be proud to display on their wall. [Wikipedia] 'Drown the Gown', 'Running of the Brides' and 'Rock The Frock' are similar names for this fine art photography, mixed with beauty, fashion and glamour photography.

In the Netherlands fine art photographer Melanie Rijkers (MeRy) & Hans van Nunen of Artstudio23.com created the first group event in 2007. 09.09.09 was the first group Trash The Dress event to be known worldwide, with 99+ women wearing their wedding dress once more. (actually there were over 150 brides :) 10.10.10 (100+) and 11.11.11 (8) followed. Also in 2011 Melanie was asked to come and shoot Running of the Brides in Niagara, Canada and a 'Mass Trash The Dress' in Adelaide, Australia.

Being the very last 'special wedding date', 12.12.12 would be very cold, so Melanie planned her last group event ever 20 May 2012 at the Scheveningen Beach, the Netherlands. More and more copycats and a decreasing lack of interest of models/brides made Melanie decide to definately stop organising group Trash The Dress events, even though all women participating keep shouting that is's FUN FUN FUN to be part of an event like this. Sorry ladies, but organising these events drains my creative energy, and when there's nothing in return, after 5 years, I feel it's time to stop.

If there's a sponsor or company interested in 12.12.12: my intial thoughts were Aruba, Melbourne...even Las Vegas!? But please let me know if you'd like to create the 12.12.12 event @ one of those locations. Trash The Dress events can be booked via info@artstudio23.com in group or individual shoots. You DON'T have to wreck your dress, you can also 'just' pose together with your husband once more, we'll create a beautiful photoshoot of the two of you. E.g. to celebrate your 1st wedding anniversary??
